BRASS BAND LINKS
The Southern Territory's Territorial Music Institute, otherwise known as TMI, is an 8-day intensive music & creative arts camp held annually at the end of each summer. TMI has an established history of producing quality music and creative arts leaders across the Southern Territory and around the world. The camp features a wide range of brass band, instrumental, vocal, creative arts instruction, and a variety of music and arts leadership seminars. TMI has been blazing the trail for Salvation Army music and creative arts leadership and instruction globally. Special guests for this year's course are Bandmaster John and Julie Lam from the Canadian Staff Band and the London (Ontario) Citadel Band.
This instrumental competition is part of a larger festival involving high school musicians and choirs from around the country competing in group or solo categories as well other fine art categories such as Art & Design, Speech & Drama, Culinary Arts and Preaching. This is a great opportunity to receive valuable feedback, attend band rehearsals and get advice from college level music faculty.

The North American Brass Band Championships are held each spring and are a gathering of British style brass bands from across the United States and Canada. In 2016 there were 34 groups present in five different skill levels from high school youth bands to advanced adult bands who perform at the very highest professional standards. There is also a solo and ensemble contest that is part of this event. A panel of judges evaluate each performance and give it a score to determine the top band in each section. The North American Brass Band Champions for 2016 are the Fountain City Brass Band from Kansas City, Missouri.
